We are pleased to announce a partnership with the University of San Francisco School of Law that brings our frontier AI capabilities into legal education and expands access to the tools that are helping to define the next generation of tax leadership.
Like USF, we believe legal education should evolve alongside the tools of the profession and that students deserve access to technologies that will shape their future practice. We also share USF's commitment to expanding access to justice through education.
USF Students will use Accordance in legal research and writing courses, in clinics serving real clients, and in independent projects that examine AI's potential role in public interest law. The goal is to help students learn to use AI thoughtfully, and to understand its capabilities and limitations while using it to support their work.
“Tools like Accordance make tax policy more comprehensible,” said Johanna Kalb, Dean of the USF School of Law. “They can help us ensure that what we say we value as a society is reflected in how we live our lives. I see our partnership as being the beginning of something that could have a tremendous public impact.”
We also see tax law as far more than a single specialty—it also reflects how society organizes itself and allocates resources. Tax affects every person, business, and institution, yet its complexity can be overwhelming. We built Accordance to help professionals manage this complexity and we’re honored to work with a law school that sees tax as a tool for justice and education as a path to systemic change.
“USF’s leadership is deeply committed to preparing students to be not just practice-ready, but future-ready,” said David Yue, Accordance co-founder and CEO. “This partnership gives us a chance to support that mission directly—with technology that helps students flourish and with a shared belief in the public value of this work.”
Moving forward, we'll continue developing this collaboration, supporting curriculum development, and learning from faculty and students as they explore AI's role in legal education and practice.
We believe the most responsible way to develop AI for tax and accounting is to work closely with educators and students who are thoughtful about its implications. We're grateful for the opportunity to do that with USF.
